Under 14 Inishowen 'A' Final : Carndonagh 3-13 Malin 2-06
A good performance from Carn was enough to see them overcome a very determined Malin side. This victory was deserved and rewards for this year's efforts from the Carn Under 14's who have trained and worked hard to play good football, and play and improve as a team.
This match was played in very slippery conditions but Carn had the upper hand from the start of the game, opening the scoring with a very well worked and taken goal, created by Kevin Doherty and scored by Garvan McGrenra. Carn dominated in the first 20 minutes, continually winning possession from the kick outs to work the ball forward and score. However a rare mistake by Dermot Doherty in the Carn goal 10 minutes from halftime allowed Malin to score a goal and this led to some significant Malin pressure coming up to halftime, but Carn held out well and at halftime they led by 8 points.
Carn started the second just as they had the first, piling on the pressure on the Malin defence and taking their scores. Two good goals from Kevin Doherty extended Carn's lead to 13 points at one stage. Malin fought back with a goal to reduce the deficit, but it was as close as the two teams would come. Carn further extended their lead with points from Ryan Crumlish (on for the injured Dermot Simpson) and Garvan McGrenra. Carn defended well and played some beautiful controlled football in the treacherous conditions. This was a good overall team performance, every Carn player played well but Cathal O'Kane, Tiarnan Coyne and Kevin Doherty(L) in particular had great games.
