Carndonagh 3-13 Red Hughs 1-05

A very poor first half, Carn lacked purpose going forward and conceded some easy scores, in particular a very soft goal. At times it seemed as if Red Hughs had an extra man on the pitch. Carn trailed at half time 0-03 to 1-03, the Carn scores coming from Barry McElhinney and 2 from Gerard Crossan. The second half was much improved with Ollie McConelogue who came on at Fullforward, winning possession and feeding it off to the other forwards. Carn opened the second half with points from Barry McElhinney, Darragh Doherty and Philip Doherty drew Carn level. Ollie McConelogue then replaced Barry McElhinney, 2 points from Philip Doherty and Gerard Crossan put Carn in the lead before Ollie scored a goal. It was all Carn at this point, with scores from Gerard Crossan (2) and Niall McLaughlin putting Carn further ahead before a thunderbolt of a strike from Gerard Crossan to the corner of the goal. Carn were on top at midfield with Kevin Doherty and Philip O'Donnell winning a lot of ball and feeding the forwards. Another goal from Philip O'Donnell (penalty) and points from Philip Doherty (2), Philip O'Donnell and Darragh Doherty made the final score, a comfortable winning margin. A special mention must go to Barry Browne who made a welcome return from injury as a sub for Keith Doherty with ten minutes remaining. Barry's return was to the delight of the home crowd and he almost crowned it with a point only for the referee to blow up early, with 5 seconds of the game remaining. Best for Carn were Philip O'Donnell, Philip Doherty, Gerard Crossan and a very fine second half from the Carn back six.

Carndonagh 0-16 Red Hughs 1-03

Carndonagh had a relatively easy run out which at times they made hard work of. A number of easy chances were squandered and Carn should have been well out of sight at half time. A goal conceded early in the second half put them under more pressure but they kept taking their points and came away with a good win. Best for Carn were John Ward, Sean McLaughlin, Shane Donaghy, Daniel McLaughlin and Anthony McLaughlin.
