Carndonagh 5-11 Burt 0-09

Carn had a good win at home to Burt, making and taking some very good scores. It was disappointing that Burt only fielded 13 and this made it hard for any sort of competitive game to take place, Carn always having the luxury of 2 extra men. This "Luxury" was however an initial hindrance as the Carn players struggled to find positions and sort out who should be marking who. Carn led by a point at half time 1-03 to 0-05 but were very fortunate as the first half performance had been very lacklustre and to add to their problems, Captain Jerry Simpson had to leave the field to have a knee injury attended to. After a bit of talking at half time Carn began the second half much brighter and started to show some pattern in their attacking play. With the marking sorted out Carn were much more solid at the back and were able to build some good attacks. Good possession was still wasted and in the end Carn made hard work of the game. In the end Carn ran out comfortable winners, 5-11 to 0-09. Best for Carn were Mark Canny, Joe McLaughlin, Michael Nelson and Dermot Simpson. While in the second half Shane Devlin, Christopher McLaughlin and Dominic Doherty all improved to inspire Carn to victory.
