Carndonagh 2-08 Muff 1-11

This was a tight and very competitive game with both defences dominating to an extent and no forwards were able to get easy scores. The game was played on a very dam and soggy Moville pitch and the pitch didn't in any way help the team play football. The ball wouldn't bounce and players had trouble with their footing. Muff opened the brighter but they were slightly wasteful while Carn took time to get started and had to work very, very hard for their scores. However Carn went in at halftime leading by a point, 1-04 to 0-06. Carn had had to suffer the loss of Shane Kelly in the first half with a strained hamstring but reorganised well and as the half finished Carn were the stronger, getting the better of the play in midfield. Carn began the second half brightly but Muff came back at them before Carn began to exert some dominance but unfortunately couldn't get the scores to kill Muff off with some wasteful shooting. Then with 5 minutes to go Carn had a man sent off and Muff drew level with a late goal and 2 points to set up a replay and they could have won with one shot cleared off the line. Best for Carn were Shane Donaghy, Joe Lafferty, Fergal Doherty, Darren Burke, Gary McLaughlin and Kieran Canny.
